Hi Guys, Ive got a 78 L48 with a Holley 4175. Put the Holley on this summer and have drove it less than 2000 miles, really have no complaints with it except that when I park in the garage and shut if off it really stinks up the garage with fuel smell. I've looked for external leaks at the carb and find nothing. Any ideas?
Make sure all the lines to the vapor canister are connected and not rotten. I assume the fumes are from the vapor canister not doing it's job. Usually that means the rubber lines either at the tank or between the vapor canister and the intake.
Might be the canister itself...they do crack, and sometimes they need to be serviced.
Check this thread out...maybe the same advice applies to your situation.
Well, that just might be it. When I removed the QJ and installed the holley, I removed the hoses between the carb and vapor canister and left the canister open. The only hose that is still connected to it is the line that runs to the tank. I will try plugging all the ports on the canister. Any opinions on whether I should re-connect the vacuum canister to the new Holley?

If you plug the lines from the vapor canister make sure you buy a vented gas cap. You can also re-connect it all up to the new carb and keep the sealed gas cap.
