Default 72 seatbelt warning ?

I know 72's have 2 different seatbelt warning systems. Early 72's have a timer, and later one's have the seat/receiver switches.

I have #9550 that doesn't appear to have the remains of either - can someone tell me if they have an earlier # with the switches, or a later # with the timer?

Thanks!

My car was made April 1972, 2nd week. I have the switch in the seat.

They for sure came one way or the other. I would venture to say that since your car is such an early build, the timer is a definite.

You may want to post on the NCRS site - someone there could give you the exact cutoff durring production for the different types.

My 72 is a june build and I have the seat switch. When I had the seats out for replacement, I went all the way down to the seatbelt retractors to inspect them......... their in great shape .......... and to clean 36 years of whatever made its way down there after cleaning I unpluged the switch on the retractor for the seatbelt warning and put it all back together. No more annoying buzzer/light. I'm 6'0, 210lbs and have a 34/36 waist . I do wear my belt in my dd But find it very uncomfortable in the vette. the belt is too short by about 6'' and tends to sinch up tight on me......which...... I do NOT like so I tend to go without
I was thinking about using something to keep the belt from retracting tight around my waist. and it would NOT affect the action of the belt in a hard/panic stop situation

something like this.........

on a not so funny note..... My uncle has a 68 and they have a button under the warning light to cancel the buzzer/light if you dont buckle up!
Well..........when I first got my car ............ by habbit I went to cancel the buzzer/warning and my finger went right through the warning lens
it's still atatched on the left side. Just another thing to replace when I upgrade the stereo
