Default 74 carpet and seatbelts install

Guys
finally getting to the carpet on our 74 project....got the seatbelts in
do you cut out the carpet to fit the cover that goes over the seat belts?
Thanks

No, the seat belts go on top of the carpet. You do this one of two ways. Screw the anchor bolts for each seat-belt assy in their respective holes and lay the carpet over the tops of the bolts. You can feel the heads of the bolts through the carpet. After the carpet is where you want it, slit the carpet over the head of the bolts just enough to remove the bolts.

...or...

Install the carpet. Then from under the car, push an ice pick or similar tool through the seat belt mounting holes and through the carpet and leave it there. Make a small slit in the carpet (from the top) where you punched through.

Either way will yield a clean install. I see people cut big holes their carpet and that looks amateurish.

Don't forget the seat belt guides and the small screws for the three brackets that hold the T-Tops straps. Use the first method for the smaller stuff.

Good luck!
