Default Edelbrock Carb made all the difference!

Yesterday installed a Edelbrock 600, and it really made a difference at the low end.:D I had a holly 650 dp with mech. sec. and never could get it right at low RPMs. The Holly was great above 2500 RPM

Bought the Edelbrock used from a forum brother and it works great. The only issue now is some of the top end is gone. Goning to read up on it and try to rejet and what ever else.

I don't think there is a better 4 bbl carb design out than an old AFB type design...period....except for road racing/auto cross, they do tend to bog in corners, I"m told....
overall power should not be down, may need tuning on top end secondary...
but overall operation is the best there is from a carb....
but like all carbs, fuel economy sucks....

Be sure to double check your throtle cable and linkage, so that you're opening all the way. I think the Edelbrocks have more lever travel than some other carbs. This can be misleading too. When I first installed mine, I found a tang at the left side that sometimes caught and would not let the secondaries open, even though the lever was full back. Bent the tang and all is well.

Glad it's working good. How did the fuel line setup work out for you? Did you make new hard fuel lines or go with hose?

It has a hard line coming up to the top of the motor and then I ran rubber hose the rest of the way.

The low profile air cleaner kind of pushes down on the fuel line, so left it like that for now and ordered a hose drop down kit from Edelbrock.

Hope you are able to rejet for the upper end.....I really liked the Edelbrock on the low end but at about 100 MPH I would start to "die" even after going up one notch on the rear jets....I finally went back to the Edel 795 Qjet I originally had and tuned that one....No problem on the top end with the QJET....
