I have a 1978 vette with the L-82 and 4 speed manual trans. I have a vibration that happens in all gears (moving or stopped) at about 3500 RPM. The vibration goes away once I get over about 4000 RPM. The shifter vibrates and the car also will shake.
Any thoughts?
I have a 78 with 700r4 and 406 and have about the same problem as you except mine comes in hard at 3000rpms then seems to disappear. Everything on my engine and driveline is new and I've tried 3 different torque converters.
One thing I could of sworn made a difference was when I pulled my harmonic balancer to check it then reinstalled. The balancer itself turned out to be fine, but for some reason my vibration was gone for a while, it's back now. I'm thinking it's something in the accessories. Maybe a belt or fan or loose accessory. Check these areas and good luck.
