Saw this on Autoblog today and if it rates my desktop background, maybe it's cool enough for the Forum... should this be in the C3 or C6 section? http://www.c3retro.com/

Looks cool, stupid if real. The corvette better never go retro, what a cheesy ploy if you ask me. Just like that company that has a body kit that makes the C6 look like a '67.

Why not? If tastefully done. Why a cheesy ploy? The renderings look nice. I would drop the "chrome bumpers",make the fender louvers flush to the fender and remove the intake by the rear wheels.
I think thats the way GM should have went, its got the curves that made the corvette great looking, hideaway head lights ,everything. But,we all know that GMs hasnt been doing too well with their cars lately, very poor imaginations.they never seem to ever get it right in the designing department. The new corvette is alright, but everything else sucks.I like high performance trucks and GM didnt even try to compete So i ended up buying a ford lightning truck to satisfy my itch, and i like chevy better, but they let me down.I like the c3 retro pics the best.

Agree I'd loose the rear vents. Also, I'd work on the roof line, but this is pretty close to what I'd imagine doing myself if I were designing a retro refit, particularly reviving the old school chrome bumper theme.
But you have to re-condition it to meet the car safety laws. i.e. the front and back steel bumpers should be 1st thing to go and be replaced with the 5 MPH urethane bumpers, and these are key design features of that nostalgic look.
I'm not feeling it, I think the shark design is something that can't be reproduced with today's standards and designs. That concept looks like someone is trying too hard to make it look exactly like a C3.
If you look at the other retro cars (challenger, mustangs, camaro) they are cars that can stand on their own with today's technology and design......but has a touch of that nostalgia feel of their classic counterpart. They don't look EXACTLY like the original cars, I think that's what I'm trying to say.
Never see it, no one will be permitted to produce it over the next 4 years, minimum....not in this country, anyway....maybe Japan...
then we have this fact that GM is going BK, and the .GOV is going to force them under fast as possible, so some court can run the operation and in that they will cancel the vette...B Green will be shut down.....
