Default New tires and wheels?

Couldn't get much info out of the C2 guys, so maybe someone here has some knowledge.

The 64 resto is progressing. We plan to add flares to cover these tires and this is what Bryan and I have decided on, maybe:

Front: 17x8 Vintage V45 with 225/50YR-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 and 3.75" backspacing

Rear: 17x9.5 V45 with 285/40YR-17 and 5" backspacing

Bear in mind that we have disc brakes on all four corners and we have Van Steel offset trailing arms.

Does this sound about right or are we FUBAR?

Any and all comments appreciated.

Thank You!

Dave

If you are going to flare the car why are you going in closer to the frame with the 5 inch backspace. I know the C2 cars have a smaller wheel well than the C3 cars. I run a 5.5 backspace on my C3 with 275 40 18 and it has touched the inner wheel well but just buffed it. If I had flares I would stick to a 4 to 4.5 inch backspace and push the tire out and not worry about frame clearance. With 17 inch rims the off set trailing arms are not needed but they are beefier arms any way. Are you going to flare the front? If so a larger tire would most likely fit. I had to lose my rear sway bar with the 5.5 backspace wheels. I run a VB dual mount system in the rear now.

I didn't want a huge flare, maybe just a touch. I have Van Steel coilover setup in the rear.

Thanks for the input

They do have complete fenders for the C2 cars now that are 1 inch wider. You can stuff a larger tire and noone will notice. My brother in law did it to his 67 resto mod and until you look at it next to another 67 you cannot tell. I think he is running a 275 or 285 tire in the rear. Of course he is running custom C4 suspension also. I'm sure you have seen the posting of 1coolC2. His car was at Carlisle also.

The coil over package loks very interesting.

The coilovers went on very nicely, I'm really happy with the product and the guys at Van Steel. I've seen the fenders and don't want to go quite that far. I could put a spine down the body line on front and rear an fill as necessary. I won't really know until I set the body down on the frame again with the tires in place so I can figure out which way to go.

In any case, I appreciate your input, thank you
