Looking for verification that I am selecting the correct Griffin Universal for a 1979 L-82 Automatic Transmission with minimum/no modification to install. (I am budget minded so please do not recommend Dewitt)
Any opinions / recommendations are also welcome!
Thanks in advance guys, you have always been a great help!

Yes, that is exactly what I have in my '78. Mine is a 4 spd so I don't need a transmission cooler. I assume you have that covered? The rubber isolators for the top clamps need to be removed. I made thinner ones out of heater hose. For the lower hose I used one like this... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

The transmission cooler is covered, at least it says it is in the description of the radiator.
Just to verify, with the Griffin, the stock lower radiator hose does not work due to the angle of the outlet?
Will a 24in flexible hose work for the upper hose as well as the lower for this application?
I wanted better cooling so I could run the AC on a hot day w/o problems. I read where a forum member had his stk rad recored w/extra core. He had a 3 core changed to a 4 core, very cheap in comparison.
I did the same and am very happy. The new rad fits perfect and looks stk. My new rad w/dual spals does everything I want. On fwy temps run steady 180-190 w/AC on.
Before you spend big $, check this out. JMHO

FYI, if you want to forgo adapting another rad to your application, Griffin #6-277AF-BAX is the direct match for 77-82 Corvette with auto trans, supporting up to 400HP. Don't have a price, tho.

Yep, the lower outlet on the radiator is angled completely different on the Griffin. I just measured my hoses and the lower one is more like 18" (all told with the connectors it is about 21"). The upper hose measures about 24" total but I just used the stock type hose. I think I had to trim it a couple of inches but it works fine.
That is the Griffin I have in mine. For the lower rad hose, I torched the old brass outlet out of the old rad, connected it to the rad via a short piece of universal rad hose and the hooked up the stock hose. It rubs the frame a bit but after a few years I have noticed not appreciable wear on the hose.
I bought a universal Alu rad from Summit for 180 USD and just welded some alu tubing to the inelt and outlet in order to be able to use the original hoses.
This is a all welded alu rad from NORTHERN. Most others like GRIFFIN are glued with compounds.
I had to take the 29x19 Inch one due to 68 having slightly smaller rads. All other C3 can use the 31x19 inch universal racing rad.
Here 2 pics of the original copper rad with the universal alu rad
Here the modified alu rad. I also added a drain **** to it like the original had.
