Default 1976 Steering column problems

I am having a difficult time rebuilding my steering column. Right now I have 2. One is junk and has been welded the other is missing parts. The best I can get it will have the horn either not go off at all even when pushed or on all the time as soon as it is placed on. If anyone has an exploded diagram or directions on the assembly with pictures that would be an huge help.

The 76 has a unique wheel and column combo. (The Vega Wheel ) I used pieces from my 76 stock horn button and a grant hub and horn button kit to get mine working. I also changed the wheel to a grant wheel but most of their wheels dont fit with out cobbling up a mix of stock and aftermarket parts. Your best bet is get rid of the 76 column and get a tilt from just about any other year, then horn kits, hubs and wheels fit like a breeze.

I did this swap on mine (76). All you need is parts from 75 or 77-up;
1-hub cover
2-hub
3-stand/contact spacer
4-tele lock ring
5-horn button and wheel (77 up)

T&T column or standard (non-adjustable) type? I have several papers and pictures at www.corvettefaq.com under Jim Shea's Steering Papers

The actual 1976 steering columns are the same as 1969 through 1975. The things that are different are the steering wheels, horn parts, and adapters.

Here's some pics that may help you out of when I changed my '76 wheel to a '75...
