Here is a picture of my inner axle. This is only after about 2K miles with my 385 motor. No sticky tires and 3 trips down the strip on street tires. Many hard launches on the street though. Looks like I will be shopping for some new axles.
Being that these were rebuilt/remanned, are you positively sure you did it? Maybe just a poor candidate yoke (for rebuild) to begin with...
I used remans on mine when I redid the rear end of my 76 but then I didn't have to really worry about any kind of HP either. I'm going to have to keep this in mind if/when I decide to get moving on upping the HP of mine.
Were you getting an indication that something was wrong or did you catch this while doing preventative maintenance?
Nothing wrong just checking things out. I have the trans out for other reasons and just pulled the rear checking for signs of cracking on the case or anything else. It was working fine.
The shafts when I purchased them a few years ago were straight. I rechecked them when I rebuilt the rear 2 years ago and they were straight. It has happened in the last 2 years.
