Default Will it ever end!

I have owned my 78 for a little over one year and I have:
Rebuilt the rear-end/suspension then,
The cam goes out. Replaced the cam then,
I lose a rod(mechanic thought he was doing me a favor and checking the rod bearings, just forgot to re-torque them. Been doing all the work myself since then).
Just put the motor in and the Master Cly and booster goes out.
Replace them then,
Left rear caliper goes out. Replace the rear calipers and low and behold, the right front caliper is now leaking...
Should have done a frame up restore....

If I plan it just right, I can be driving a new 78 by summer...

Just had to vent...

Thought bout that but I still had some engine parts left over after I sold the sprint car. Wanted to put them to good use. I enjoy building the motors.

Well....they say working on a Vette never ends....and they are right. LOL. Keep it up and dont get discouraged. Like you said...sooner or later, you will have all new stuff in there. But, thats when the electrical and vacuum gremlins will strike!

I agree with you daily_Driver. My other project is an 85 S15 that I just put a 3.1 TPI 92 Firebird motor in. Had to replace the entire Engine bay wiring harness. Still working out the bugs in that one....

No, it may never end but it will slow down. Once you get these cars road worthy and drive them on a regular basis, your frequency of repairs will diminish. There is a lot (vacuum, fiber optics, etc.) to these cars considering their vintage. Many have been driven hard. Often after 20 or 30 years not only have they accumulated 250,000 miles but also a lot of deferred repairs. But look at it this way. What other cars of the late ‘60s and ‘70’s do you even see on the roads today. Only the best of that era are being driven regularly and Corvette was one of the best.

A word of caution, the “sting” of a Stingray can lead to a mental disorder known as Corvetteis Accumulateis. That is the ‘burning desire to have more than one Corvette at a time.’ There is no known cure but the treatment generally recommend is to gradually allow the patient to accumulate multiple Corvettes. If your HMO will not cover these costs for you, it has been shown that buying 1:18 scale models will relive some of the pain.

We also have a 1999 C5 convertible and I am working on the wife to allow a forth. Some on this Forum have quite a few.

Humm must be what I have. I have an 80 and a 96. I must stop and look at every vette that is for sale. Looking now at a 2000 and a 79. Sometimes
Corvetteis Accumulateis gets real bad. Had to buy me a R/C vette to get my fix. Wife says wait untill the kids are off the auto insurance. :jester :D :chevy
