Re: Ten Commandments For Corvette Owners (Silvr77)
I gotta disagree with number 5. I live three miles off a paved road (with a nice 1/2 mile private paved part... got my own 1/4 mile marked off). I'll be broke if I pave the last half mile... my property, and the U.S. Forrest Service would hang me if I paved their half mile. I'll break most any commandment to not let my vette be a garage/trailer queen.

The previous owner (of 23yrs) had a 200ft pea gravel driveway. When I pulled the spare tire tub last week.. a good shovel full of gravel spilled all over the garage floor. Gravel was up in the body, and in every nook and cranny in the rear. Can't blame him though, gravel is the only way that stock L-48 could spin the rear tires!! :yesnod:

I don't know about #4. My Dad told me many times that if you can't cuss at those da*m parts when they won't come off, then you will never consider this a hobby. It will just be a job. Cussing at car parts is benefical for good mental health.
Re: Ten Commandments For Corvette Owners (Pedro'74)
I've broken numbers 4 and 9 many times, and 5 a few times. Guess I'm going to CorvetteHell, with all those tailgating SUV's, lemming-mobiles, and "cute" "sports cars" such as the BMW Z3s and Mercedes "KompRRRessor" (<--read with strong German accent). :jester
-Pedro
Z3's? :U I thought they were just fashion accessories for middle aged housewives who just want to get in everybodies way!
Thoust shall not let small children climb over thy storage compartments (specially when they're not even your own kids :mad )
Re: Ten Commandments For Corvette Owners (Silvr77)
Ouch....I think I've broke a few of them! Here are my excuses:
* Thou shalt not loan thy Vette to anyone.
It was my best friend, and I told him to take it for a spin (I was with him)
* Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow Vette owner.
Not done on purpose, more or less paying attention to the sounds my car was making and watching the gauges....I've missed a couple waves this way.
* Thou shalt not swear at thy Vette, for it is tempermental.
Come on now, I think I've called my 'Vette every name in the book while working on it :D
* Thou shalt not forget to activate the alarm system.
I never activate my car alarm (maybe I'm too trusting of an individual?)
Re: Ten Commandments For Corvette Owners (Silvr77)
I have the top of my thumb split wide open by one of those 1/4" captive washers on the screws holding the bumper covers on. I also have a scab on the top of my head, a lump above my temple, grazed knuckles & no skin left on my left elbow! After using POR15 Metal Prep I can tell you that as well as smelling like hydrochloric acid, after getting it into the cut in my thumb, it sure does feel like hydrochloric acid (the hopping and jumping up & down while it was disolving the insides of my thumb caused the grazed elbow & the bump & cut on my head - I was lying under the car at the time, which doesn't leave much room for hopping & jumping :( ).
On the basis of the above, I reckon that the 4th Commandment has been mis-typed. It should be:
Thou shalt swear at thy Vette, for it is tempermental.

Yeah, but I've seen some big guys driving that thing thinking they look  .... It's just sad.... (Hope I don't offend anyone; I'm just assuming that Corvettes and "cute" "sports cars" are mutually exclusive!)
Re: Ten Commandments For Corvette Owners (Silvr77)
Thou shalt not loan thy Vette to anyone. guilty.. (i was with him only a quick spin tho)
Thou shalt not fail to wave to a fellow Vette owner. guilty ( i was drivin home from the shop when my car was all disgusting and nasty.. i was embarrased)
Thou shalt not swear at thy Vette, for it is tempermental. guilty (does it need to be explained?
Thou shalt not cruise on unpaved roads. guilty ( i live in the sticks)
Thou shalt not feed thy Vette with budget grade fuel. guilty (i put 89 in it once, i swear it was only once!)
Thou shalt not expose thy Vette to severe weather conditions. (does geting caught in a t-storm mean I'm guilty?)
Thou shalt not forget to activate the alarm system. what alarm?
Thou shalt not acknowledge a Honda or Mitsu as being true sports cars. um.. whoever said that GSXs and VR4 3000GTs were a part of mopar is WRONG!! the base model cars have neon engines in them.. Mitsu built the tsi and RT stealth. so that make those two part of the DSM crowd.. (Diamond Star Motors) i hang out with ricers so i know this stuff..
