I purchased a new pair of $40 weatherstrips for the A-pillars and installed them. My windows and doors worked perfectly before installing these (the new ones are much firmer material than the existing ones).
After putting the new ones on the windows would not go up all the way. The new weatherstips were keeping them from going up the last 1/4 inch. If I opened the door the windows would roll-up another 1/4" so it's not the rail stops that need adjusting - it's the weather strip that seems to be thicker and firmer. I've tried various adjustments and can't get these to work. Has anyone else been able to get these to work. I've seen that other suppliers sell a version that they say is like the original and it costs more. Has anyone tried this other version and like them? Thanks for any help or advice.
I've read in several other posts that you have to roll the windows all the way up close the doors and let it sit in the sun for a few days. I have no experience with this myself but it sounds reasonable.
That's what I did with my 68
It takes a while for the windows to "adjust" to the new weatherstrip.
Better to be to tight than to leak.
Had the same issue with the t-top weatherstrip and the doors.
Let it all sit for a while and now everything is fine.

Thats what I had to do. I also put a little silicone grease on them to help the window slide up while the weatherstrips were breaking in. Mine came from Doc Rebuild and seemed a lot firmer than the original OEM (but ther originals were 30 years old so I don't know what they were like new).
