Does anyone see any reason this wont fit my 76 with a big block? I know Ill have to notch the frame but will the power steering pump interfere with the A arm bolts or anything?
Thanks again
I bought a $1900 system and sent it back. If you cut your crossmember, what's gonna happen to the upper parts and the radiator. By my hillbilly cypherin, it wouldn't fit at the top, hitting the radiator. You do some checks on yours, mine is a 69 and I don't know the difference between the two. I was mad as hell, I wanted that system!!
Did it hit your radiator or your radiator shroud? I see almost the same setup here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...stem-pics.html
and it looks like it fit ok. Ill be using electric fans so wont need a shroud. Cutting the X member shouldnt change anything else. Im going to order it today and hope I can make it fit
The picture is of a March pulley system. As I recall it's about $2400 with all the accessories. It won't clear the front crossmember because it has a 7 inch (7 1/4"?) crank pulley. You need something like a 5 inch pulley. I noticed that March makes a 5 inch Serpentine pulley for the 'Performance" underdrive system they make for GM BB trucks. I asked if I could use that pulley....the answer was no because height of the pulley was incorrect. I asked if they would make a 5 inch pulley for me that would fit the above system. They said no and that was the end of the conversation. I didn't like the idea that they wanted me to notch my crossmember instead of them making a correct pulley.
If you've a cast iron BB, notching the crossmember is weakening a frame member that isn't all that strong anyway. Hopefully you can fit in an expansion bar...that will really help.
You'd think that someone would make a Serpentine kit that would fit a BB C3. I would think there's a good sized market out there. Oh, by the way, the GM Peformance Parts Serpentine kit for a BB weighs a whopping 115 pounds, plus I'm pretty it puts the AC compressor above the hood line.
The kit in the picture is only $1900 including the alt, ac compressor, power steering pump and water pump. Cutting the x member wont make it much weaker if its welded back properly. I might even knock out the dents from people jacking the car up I could put a couple of stiffening ribs in it but doubt Ill bother. I will be building a spreader bar when I get the engine in anyway.

Please don't take this too personal, but you're a real "bubba" if you carry on with your plans. March told me the same as above. It really pissed me off, I won't own anything else from them ever.
I'm running a Mark VIII 2 speed Lincoln fan. So, I have an electric fan too.
I was asked by March, "can't you just cut/notch the crossmember?" I replied that my 69 Corvette deserved alot more respect than that, and he should go sell Lazy Boys, or stick to cuttin up tuner crap.
Done with my rant now, I'm just trying to preserve what will go to another caretaker when I'm done and gone. They're not making these things anymore, think for just a minute before ya go hackin up one. Please, Tank
