Default power increases???

I have a 1974 stingray with the 350 small block. Now I'm looking to do some general power increases.....what are my options or what are some easy projects/modifications that I can do to increase power? Thanks everyone.

What is your budget and are you looking to keep it stock looking or can you move outside the stock box?

The budget is very important because the money you can spend limits you in how much of a performance upgrade you can expect.

I would talk to a "professional" or someone you KNOW has lots of experience with modding engines.

I made the mistake years ago picking intake, carb, and cam that looked good from the specs for a Z-28. While it did run great on the top end, it idled bad - especially with the a/c on - and would run hot. This was a daily driver and I lived in Corpus Christi, TX. And the car was black. Summers were hot and humid. You had to run the a/c.

A friend put a really lumpy cam in his 72 454. I think the machine shop guy recommended it. It was so lumpy that to me it was unpleasant to ride in. It did run good but he had little vacuum at idle. He had to manually raise the headlights or rev the engine to build vacuum.

For my 72, I contacted Lunati cams and asked for their recommendation given the way I was going to drive the car and any other mods I had or would be doing.

I don't have too much money laying around right now, but will have a little more this summer. I'm just looking for ideas on what I could do in the future and how much things will cost to know how much I need to save.

For around $1,200 or a little less you can have an extra 100 HP. Plan for heads, intake, related maintenance parts, gaskets, fluids, and hopefully exhaust.
