While driving home from work today I met up with a 1966 Shelby GT350 in the other lane. I start admiring his car and all of the suden he puts it in neutral and starts reving the engine like he wants to race. It's about 5:00pm and it has been raining all day and the roads are completely drenched. Now I had been having traction problem just taking off normally from red lights, let alone punching it...........so I ask you is this guy nuts?............his car was in pretty good shape and I can't imagine taking a chance like that on a rainy day just to see who is quicker. I don't even know if I had a chance in hell of keeping up on a normal day, since I don't know how fast they are, but on a rainy day it would be a one way ticket to disaster. I guess some guys don't appreciate what they've got until it's totaled on the back of a flat bed!!! :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
Roll down your window and ask him to meet you on a secluded roadway when the weather is better. Personally I think a 350/300hp Vette should take a GT350. I like the old Shelby’s but like it was said above it is probably a clone. Most Shelby’s are not driven that much because they are rare and the people that can afford them don't drive them they are collectors and let them sit in climate controlled garages.

I think you might just be right! I looked up some stats on the Shelby Cobra GT350 and the numbers for the 1966 are 14 sec @ 92 mph. I know I can beat that, but as someone previously stated, I'm driving a Vette and when I'm old and my speed has failed me, I'll still be driving the Vette and at least the car will still be looking good
I find that weaker cars tend to rev at me when its wet out or we are in traffic because they know there is no way we can really race, and it makes them feel tuff.
I dunno, revving the engine from another V8 to me is just a sign of recognition and not a challenge necessarily, unless conditions are really right.....to me it's a sign he like my car, and I show/do the same thing....
