Good Afternoon everyone, I just recently purchased a 82 Collector Edition and I would like to install a manual transmission in it. Has anyone done this that can tell me what all is involved in doing so?

There have been a lot of members doing this kind of thing, and to be honest you'll get a lot of good threads and walk throughs and pictures by doing an advanced search using some key words.
Manual Transmission Swap
There are also a few vendors that offer bolt in kits for new 5 speed transmissions.
I went from a Turbo 350 to the 82 style 700R4 in the late 80's. I have recently installed a Tremec 5 Speed. Probably the best way would be to go with Keisler Engineering as they sell every Part You need all in one Kit. The driveline you have is the same lenght for both Trans. Putting the Clutch Brake pedal setup in is no small project You might consider replaceing Your Brake Booster when You have this all apart. If You use the stock Mechanical Clutch parts you will have to Weld a braket to the Frame. If your going to use a Hydaulic System I like the Tilton one the best. You can also use a Tremec 6 Speed but You will have to modify the Trans Tunnel and it weighs 33 lbs more. You can modifiy your Crossmember pretty easy for the new trans but by replacing it You can run a Dual Exhaust so you might as well.
