Lived in Mass my whole life and have always found a few days every winter where the roads are clear and dry and the car can get out and be exercised. I have always changed the oil before winter and put a good coat of polish on it. Fill the gas tank so there is less room for condensation. Use a Battery Tender for prolonged sitting. Done it this way for 37 years with my 65 and never had a problem. I'm assuming your car is garaged.

Put it in the garage and foggeddabodit until spring, that's all I do, had mine 13 years now and it gets allot colder up here. I do take the battery out though

I live in CT and do about the same as capevettes except I sometimes take the battery out and bring it in the basement once the snow starts coming. I never use gas treatement, just fill the tank.Fill out your profile sometime...where in MA are you??

fill the tank, put a cover on it and leave it be. if you just can't control yourself you can run it for about 15 minutes every month or so to let it circulate oil and get up to temp. other than that, c ya in the spring.

My way of storing my cars:
Change oil / filter
Check antifreeze
Wash / Clean
Fill fuel tank / add stablizer
Disconnect battery / hook up battery tender
Cover car
Forget about it until spring. (never start them)
Might not be in this order, but this is what I have done for 20 years, never an issue come spring, they start right up.

what i do is fill the tank with stabil. then park her in the garage, clean her up, disconnect the battery, and say goodnight. never any problems.
in the spring i take her for a twenty mile drive .then change oil, and filter. good to go for summer..

Don't worry about the old boots that are tired of hearing the same , we all need advice once in a while ,I'm with Motorhead fill it up quick cleaning and put it away ,with a batt tender or just pull the batterie , Ron

I've always thought that these repetitive, controversial topics be kept as a sticky so that they only gets thrashed once, BWTFDIK.
Just be glad you didn't ask about oil types, octane ratings, ignition upgrades, poly bushings, definition of numbers matching, ebay scams, NCRS bashing, etc.etc.

Just ask your questions, if they don't like them they don't have to read or respond. I do the same as most here the most difficult is not starting and using the car during the winter.

Red673, ask all the questions you want. You'll find that there are people on here who will answer any and all. If you are new, you would have no way of knowing that the question has been beaten to death, and if not new, oh well--we'll just have to help you out anyway. As to your question, I fill my 82 with fuel top it off with some stabil, change the oil and filter, check the rest of the fluids and say goodnight for a month or so. I try to start it up and run it for about 30 minutes a month or, if the weather is good take it out for a short ride.
