Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (ylose)
Don't let all these tire kickers test drive your car, in my opinion  . No sense in them test driiving it if they still have to sell their car, get a loan, finish their lease, OR agree on a price with you. Those are the ecxuses I heard when people called / came to see my GN. I learned after one test driver!
Now I just tell them some bs, the car has no insurance, I will take you out in the car....if you like everything about it and the ride, are you ready to buy today? If so, let's agree on a price, pending final test drive.... IF the buyer is serious, it won't be a problem.
That is standard for me when I sell my bikes.....even firmer: agree on price, give me cash, test the bike around the bike, if you don't like it, I will return you the money when my bike returns in one piece.
ALOT of tire kickers out there, especially for our type of toys :mad and a lot of dreamers :U
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (Eric 70)
(1) Ask the prosepective buyer for a telephone number (just in case you have to reschedule an appointment). If they provide a real telephone number, they may be less likely not to show.
(2) Insist on meeting the prosepective buyer at THEIR place. This will separate the serious inquiries from the wanabee lookers.
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (yosshimura)
I do have the guy's number, and we talked on the phone this morning. I don't let just anyone drive the car. You all make valid points. I usually take them for a ride first. I have only actually had 1 person actually drive it.
He picked it apart, and I told him maybe the car wasn't for him. He was comparing it to a 2000 Eclipse Convertible!!! WTF????
I would be even more PO'd if I have taken the car to someone, and they weren't there!!!!!
Oh yeah, I don't HAVE to sell it....I am just trying to get a different Vette now.
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (Eric 70)
Eric, I think you have a damn fine car there, and if you sell it, I sincerely believe you will regret it as it goes down the driveway....think hard man....
If it's boredom, well my suggestion is you wait for better economic times...
if it's economics, well, find another source of monies.....
that car is too slick to let go.....
and the economy is so poopiety now you will have to give it away ....and another car should come as cheap...assuming you have a solid handle on that whole topic....rust...rust included....
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (mrvette)
I was selling to move on to a '96 Collectors...but not if I can't get a fair price for my '70...but I am about to scrap the idea and drop a 502 between the fenders!!!!!
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (Eric 70)
Hang in there Eric, I know what your going thru. I had alot of false hopes from numerous buyers. Telling me this/that, mostly from Texas of all places. Finally found the right buyer and within 2 days of him seeing the car, paid the cash... and lives 20 minutes from me.

And the response to that is, "Yeah, but you'll still be in a butt-ugly, rice cooking piece of crap that thirty years from now will be nothing but a rust stain in some overgrown junk yard, and this car will STILL be running". :D
Oh, and P.S.... What? ARE YOU FREAK'N CRAZY?!!!!!! Sell that gorgeous car for a 96? You must be certifiable. :smash:
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (79MakoL82)
Lighten up people! Someone that has put in the time and effort to create a
car like Eric's obviously does not make the decision to sell on the spur of the
moment. It's his car and his money, our jealousy and opinions should not
enter into the picture.
Be happy for anyone in the hobby(addiction) if their decision turns out to be
a mistake in the future, it's a good storey of sorry to pass on later.
Good luck Eric in what ever decision you make.
DRIVE ON MAN!!!!
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (79MakoL82)
Lot of lookie lous and wanta bees as well as the bull crap callers, hang in there, nice car, what is the asking price, have a friend in dallas I will pass it on to as he is thinking of a vette and like the ragtops.
Re: Another Potential Buyer doesn't show!!! (Eddie 96)
Im sorry to hear that eric(that you cannot sell). I too have to sell mine soon, and everyone tells me how I will regret it too. Which I realize, but I don't have a choice. And I agree with above, someone who has put as much time/money into a car as eric, doesn't just decide to sell like that, he has had plenty of time to think it out. He is doing what he wants to do, I admire that.
