Default 68 turn signal swich replace

I've got a 68 with a broken turn signal switch. I see they're now down to $80 through Zip, but I was wondering if anyone had tried to swap a 69 switch. I'm repacing the wiring harness with a universal that will have the flat 69+ signal/hazard connector to the column, so I'm going to have some rewiring to do with a new 68 switch.
So does anyone know if a $35 69+ GM switch will work?
I noticed that Advance auto has a 68 switch with what looks like ad adapter harness:

Is this just a generic GM switch with an extra harness piece?

The 67-68 turn signal switch as unique to those two years only. The GM 69 switch will not work. I don't think it will even fit in the top of the column.

The imported switch is available for your car 55.30

and the correct repro is available 62.00

Willcox is correct: the 1967-68 switch is unique. Having broken one in my 1967 when they were not being reproduced I had to pay several hundred dollars for a replacement. But that is history.

I don't know the niceties of the inner workings but here are a few comments as to why they are unique. Four-way (emergency) flashers were introduced/federally mandated in 1967 (1966 in New York State!). Thus the earlier C2 switches were different. The ignition switch was on the dashboard in C2s. The same was true in 1968. But in 1969 the feds mandated a locking steering column and the ignition switch was moved there from the dashboard. Thus the T/S ***'y had to be changed. Jim Shea will know in what way, I do not. Thus the 1967-68 T/S is a bit of an orphan.

I hoarded a couple but recently sold them on EBay.

Thanks Wilcox and Paul, ordering one tomorrow.
Back when it first went out, they were going for $150. I was considering a trained monkey to turn the flasher off back then.

The little self-cancelling legs are prone to failure. Yes, I seem to remember $225.00 at one point.
