I know that it has been stated by Hooker that the SBC Hooker Sidepipes do not fit angle plug heads, but there are many variations of these ranging from the old 3991492 angle plug head and the heads I have on my 350 which are the 340292 Turbo angle plug heads. Does anyone have this head and can say what spark plug clash exists if any?
Being located in New Zealand, I want to be sure if I get Jet HOt coated pipes, that I dont have to beat on them for clearance. I have considered stainless steel as well, so if clearance is required it can be modified and repolished.
My last heads were Dart Sportsman angle plug heads and they were fine with my Hooker sidepipes. I don't know if there is much difference between those and GM castings. I wouldn't think so.
GM Bowtie angle plug heads will work with Hooker sidepipes, use Accel short plugs.
Some plugs have to be tightened up with a open end wrench. A couple plug wire boots will be really close, so use insulators, ceramic being the best.
Bashcraft, I see your avatar photo shows side pipes, these were Hookers side pipe headers on 292 heads, correct?
My avatar picture was taken after the BB swap, but when I bought the car in 1979 it had a '70 LT-1 engine with 292 heads and Hooker side pipes which had absolutely no issues with plug wires. I wish I could say the same thing about the Hookers and BB GM aluminum heads.
