Default Which seats Fit?

For those of you that have swapped in seats from other cars, which ones fit? I don't want any fancy racing seats, just something a little better than stock.

Also, I am thinking about just getting new foam and leather seat covers. What are your thoughts about these options?

If I can just swap in some new seats it would probably be easier and faster(or maybe just faster).

I don't know if you consider them "fancy racing seats" but Corbeau A4s fit well. you can get them in coverings from vinyl to leather.

Well, I have only installed Celica seats in my Corvette, which was a tight fit, but here is a small list of seats that I have seen installed. Some or all may require modifications to fit and non other than late model C3 seats would just bolt in.

C4 seats
C5 seats
C6 seats
Current model Toyota Celica / MR2 seats
Pontiac Fiero seats
Mazda Miata seats
Pontaic Solstice / Saturn Sky seats

I have a set of Recaro buckets with 1978 Corvette seat tracks and headrest speakers. They were mounted in a 78 vette. They will need recovering. $500 buys them.

Corbeau A4 and GTSII's both fit. What year is your car? Watch out fitting other seats (including Corbeau's from other vendors) in a Corvette. Especially if you are over 5'10". Most seats are taller than the originals and will put your head in the T-tops if you are taller than average. Our kit compensates for that issue. Of course if you aren't that tall it doesn't matter. As Durango_Boy pointed out there are a lot of junk yard options if you want to fab your own brackets. Just be aware of the height issue.

do a search there are alot of threads on this. I think alot use old fiero seats. You could also shop ebay and get some from a C5 that would fit.

Corbeau LG1 fits my '78, but is tight. I would not recommend it for those taller than 5' 11".

I think the RX8 seats are the best I've seen in awhile. Not sure if they fit, but I would definitely try them if I were building a driver.

Don't buy the Corbeaus if you are over 5'10" or have a waist bigger than 34 inches, you will be very uncomfortable. They fit the C3, but not that great. I have a set and the brackets are nice and low but they almost block the rearview mirror.

Pm answered, jhuff.

Sorry for the photo size, RunningMan373. I was pressed for time and didn't re-size it like I should have. I fixed it now. You know, I could make it bigger if you want it. Now the only thing messing up the screen sizing is your quote of my post. Can you edit your post to remove the photo? That should fix it all.

I recently bought a CR1 and had to remove it, because of the seat height. I even shaved the foam 1" on the seat bottom, and was running the Corbeau brackets, which are about as low as I can see them getting. will your kit work with a the CR1 as it does with the A4? and is there any difference in the seating height between the A4 and the CR1, from the factory?

We haven't tested a CR1 so I can't say with certainty anything about the seat height but I know that all Corbeau seats share the same mounting dimensions so our brackets should fit. Our mounting brackets will lower the seat at least 3/4" and maybe 1" when compared to Corbeau's brackets (we had to get creative to get them to mount so low). We originally looked at using the Corbeau mounts but quickly determined what you have discovered (that the brackets don't work for anyone over 5'10"). So we decided to make our own that would work. We succeeded in creating a design that will fit someone up to 6'1" our 6'2".

From the looks of things the cushions are nearly identical between the CR1 and A4 so if you just need another 3/4" of clearance I think we can help. One issue, however, we don't have a solid database on the mount dimensions for the 1973 model year as things seem to have changed throughout the production cycle. We would need the dimensions from your car to guarantee fitment. The most critical dimension the the distance between the rear two mounting holes.

Do you modify the A4 seats themselves or is lowering the result of your mounting bracket? Thanks.

The seats are modified as well. The extra clearance is a combination of both the seat changes and brackets.

Are you taller roadster guys modifying the deck lid at all? I would love to change out my seats but I am tall and sit with the seat almost all the way back - the stock seats are partially under the decklid in that position so my fear is that I wont be able to get the seat back far enough to be comfortable without hitting the lid. Are the modern seats seats just that much thinner?

I have fit Sparco R100 seats in mine. Required a fair amount of work to modify seat tracks and fabricate a connecting bracket. I hope to do a full write up here soon.
