So i had my th400 rebuilt back in febuary and i dont know if its supose to do this but the car kicks pretty hard in second gear. Its a cool feeling but i almost lost control a few days ago while taking a turn at 30 off an offramp.
the car has a 2300 stall converter and has a basic rebuilt from aamco. if theres and issue i wanna take it in before the warretny is up.

what my car has. Headers, and full exhaust.
thanks for any imputs or answers
You get some kick with the valve body kits, as they change the way the tranny shifts, but in no case should the kick be so hard as to cause you to lose control. Take that back to the shop now & don't take any crap from them.
well like this is how it is.....im makin a turn and if the car shifts it shifts hard and sometimes like the back gives out like a fishtail. idk if its suppose to do that with a valve body. the offramp issue was dude to wet road but my 99 ta doesnt kick or anything like that.
Something dont or doesn`t sound correct. Making a turn at 30 mph in first gear with a automatic? Hell, a good turbo behind some HP will rip in the 1-2 shift and also the 2-3 shift. Mine chirps in a moderate acceleration with out even hammering it. I suggest get more familiarized with your HP to know what to expect. And maybe hang on to the wheel tighter. ..

As far as it shifting hard, every TH400 I've ever been around had a nice firm shift. The stock turbo 400 in my stock L82 vette even gives a nice little fish tail or chirp of the tires depending on what kind of pavement I'm on.
My dad also has a '75 C20 camper special with a 454 Turbo 400 with 15,300 original miles on it right now, and the shifts can be pretty brutal depending how deep your foot is in the accelerator. I can tell you for a fact that transmission has never been apart since it left the factory.
