I have two questions I need help with. The first is, I ordered a console plate w/defrost for my 78 vette. I'm attempting to install the stuff I'm reusing into the aftermarket plate when I come to the shifter boot. The leather boot for my auto trans does not line up with the screw holes drilled for the plate. It appears the aftermarket plate has the holes drilled too high up and is easily seen when comparing the original with the new. Willcox has the new boot for 20 bucks so I was thinking about ordering a new one, but would it line up? Hogging out the holes is a no go cause I think it would show just above the screws. Somethings wrong here.
Second, I'm looking to find the plastic decal that goes on the faceplate of the windsheild wiper switch. It is just an adhesive back that peels off and says "Windshield Wiper." I tried 3 online vendors and no one has it. I don't need the new switch as the new switch doesn't come with it anyhow.
You might try using an awe to pull the boot upward and toward the holes. This should allow you to align them in the proper place. Put it in the boot hole and work it gently toward the hole. Once you have the awe in the hole, move to the next one before you try to screw it down. You can usually work the boot in place this way.
The decal you seek is not being produced by anyone at the moment.
