Default Electrical Gremlin. Does yours do this?

I know there are "unique" things about vettes. Has anyone seen this?

I was doing a brake job today and when I started the brake job, I showed my dad the fiber optic lines that I hooked up and how they came on bright when I pressed the brake. Then about halfway through the brake job, I noticed (by looking at the lamp monitoring Fiber optics) that the right brake was on, and the drivers was not working. So, thinking that I may have hit a wire or something i checked the wire out and everything was fine. Then i got a test light and the left side was not getting any juice. I fiddled around with it for over an hour testing everything and taking it all apart (wires, bulbs, ground....etc) and it was not working . So, I put it all back together and it still was not working. Then I cranked up the motor to go test my new calipers by driving around the block, and they the rear lights came back on as soon as I cranked it up and worked fine. So, now i'm confused, but I accept that whatever was bad is now not bad and they are working again.

O.K. so I during the test drive I notice that my brakes are a little spongy, so I get back home and bleed them, halfway through the bleed, the left light is dead again. Then I crank it up and we are good (again) till I pump the brake 30 or so times then it's dead again and getting no juice. What would cause this, and has anyone else had a gremlin like this one?

Sorry for the long post, but I had to describe my dilema. Appreciate the help.

Did you try the left turn signal ? If it works ok and the brake light doesn't, the problem is likely in the signal switch.

I have stock 76, 350 no leds. I had similar problem with interm work, not work tail lights. I found the wires in the back got hot and broke down the insulation in 2 different spots; In addition I found, by luck, 1 single little wire strand into connection on ground.

Is it a four speed ? with a clutch ?
Depressing the clutch could be tugging on some wires?
