Zz 427/430hp
Have a chance to buy a ZZ 427 GM crate from a friend who lost his job 6 months ago. The engine was never installed in his 70 Nova SS, he has since had to sell the car with it's 396 ci still in place, the 427 was to replace the 396.
My question is this, I'm considering installing this 427 in our 79 vette, what issues might I have to consider since 79's are set up for 350 ci. motors and I have a TH400 transmission. My 350 ci (355) complete rebuild now produces just around 400 hp and my transmission was also rebuilt with a shift kit and stall.
This ZZ427 is around 430 HP, so I'm not gaining much extra HP but a lot more torque. Looking for advise or suggestions to consider and extra cost involved with this install before I pull the trigger and buy it. My first concern is will it fit, and will it bolt to my tranny, hate to have replace my trans also.
He paid just over $10.000 for it, I can buy it for $5.500 cash and thats a good deal.

I think the transmission should bolt up fine. One warning is that none of your small block brackets, pulleys or accesories will work. These can be shockingly expensive. Easily another $1k for this transplant. Best keep that in mind.

thats a hell of a deal. I'd buy that motor and find something to put it in. This is the all aluminum 427..right? BTW, those numbers are conservative...its going to put out plenty of power for the street for your 79.
