I have searched the forum and have found a lot of helpful tips. What I can not find are some install pics if anyone has some it would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks
I didn't take any pics of either of the two installations I did, but you can always pick my brain if you have questions.
You'll want to install the latches and the lower hardware before you do the seal.
When you're installing the seal, cut the exact middle of the top of the seal. It's bigger than the opening and you can glue the sides in and around until they meet at the top, where you'll trim them to meet exactly in the middle.
The biggest tips I can give you...have at least two sets of extra hands to hold the seal as you glue it around the rim. I lay a bead of 3M weatherstrip adhesive down on the middle section of the bottom. I let it cure, and lat the weather strip on it holding it tight until it's tacky and holding itself. Only then will I apply adhesive along another small section on either side, laying the strip down on it in little sections.
The extra hands become useful as you round the upper corners because there is a 90 degree angle formed into the seal and it's not going to like conforming to the curve without pulling itself away from the body. The extra fingers holding it is nice as you finish the top part of the adhesive.
Once you meet the two sides in the middle of the top, trim them so they meet flush, and double check everything has stayed where it is supposed to be. Then install the window, and latch it in place making sure it's very tight against the seal which is bonded to the body. Leave it that way for at least 24 hours.
The window will hold the seal in place and once the adhesive is cured you can pull the window back out and make any adjustments so the window isn't in too tight or too loose.
The ultimate test is water on the back deck to see if it'll leak in past the seal.
I once owned a '70 C3 and appreciated the removable rear window. I now have a '73 and would like to install a removable rear window. What are the sources for the parts (latches, frame, seal, etc.). I believe it has been previously reported that the glass installed in the '73 can be used by adding the frame. Is that information correct? Thanks.

Not sure. I've been wanting to do this mod to my '73. I looked into parts briefly a while back and if I remember correctly the rear glass part number was different for '73s as compared to the '70-'72 models. Don't know what having different part numbers means. In my case it doesn't matter, my rear glass is so scratched up I need new anyway.

Reason: Clarification
This removeable rear window is too good of an idea. I would hate to try and piece together everything only to stopped by a missing piece that can't be found. Is the window avail outright for my 74?
It would be worth it I think.

I think the removable window stopped with '71, maybe '72, but the '73 never had it as an option. That might be the part number difference you are seeing because it's a flat plate glass piece for the car just like the years up to '78.
I still have a pretty good '77 glass if you want to replace the stock window over going with a removable.

Correct. The removable option ended with '72. To make things clear, I meant the part number for '73 rear glass was different than for 70-72. We have a classic car dealer here and I'm told he now has a '72 on his lot. When I get a chance, I will go by and do some comparison.
