I am hearing a baaaaad noise when my rpms go above 2500.....
It sounds to me like a belt slipping or something similar, but only when my engine rpms (in any gear) get above 2500. I have heard it before today. Previously, when first start driving the car, it would happen. Not as bad, but I thought I just hadn't let the transmission warm up enough yet before making so many rpms.....
Anybody got a clue what I'm talkin' about?
Make sure you check the bolts holding the alternator bracket & adjustment bar to the block. I've had some of those bolts come loose before (which will loosen the belt) and shear off at the block -- no fun!
The TH350 in my Monte Carlo made a real bad squeal when the tranny went out, but only in 2nd. It would roll out in first fine, hit second and squeal and do terrible things, then shift into third and drive fine. Doesn't quite sound like the same symptoms you described.
