Anyone try a pair of these, Summit G9003 headers. I have a '74 L82, 350 SB, manual, PB, PS. Just checking if anyone has tried them before I purchase a set.
I put a set of these on my '79. They fit great and went on easy. I did as colin75 suggests and stripped and painted them. I have purchased several sets of the Summit brand headers over the years and used them on various cars and never had a leak or fitment issue - they are a great value! Jeg's offers the same thing under their brand name also.
VHT is Very High Temprature paint. It used to be some magic stuff back in the 70's but now EPA rules have made it about as good as Rustoleum BBQ paint from Ace Hardware (maybe not quite that watered down but, I swear it isn't the same stuff I used back in the 70's.)
VHT used to be made by Sperex Corp (an aerospace contractor) now it is owned by Duplicolor, you make the call. I would probably use Ace Hardware BBQ paint myself.
I used VHT and I found it to work great. Like SolidLT1 I used the stuff in the late 70s as well which I recall being a better and smelling much stronger but so far they are holding up very nicely. The key is all in the prep and warming up the headers when painting and to cure.
