Default 4-speed to Automatic, Back to manual trans.

I have a 1980 Corvette L48 automatic trans, but it was originally a 4-speed. It still has the clutch pedal under the carpet. How hard would it be to convert back to a 4 or 5 speed manual? Thanks

I assume the clutch linkage bracket on the frame is still there. If so, this should be pretty easy. You can pick up all the factory clutch linkage parts you are missing from most of the Corvette catelogs. If you need a schematic, I think Paragon's catelog has a nice diagram of the linkage and all its parts. If you need to save a few $$'s then you could call one of the Corvette salvage yards that are around.

Like gkull said, the hardest part of the install (lthe pedal) is already done for you.

You may or may not need a new driveshaft too.

Believe the clutch linkage bracket to frame for that year is bolt on anyway, so even if it is not there easy to replace.

Sounds like You have a 700r4 if its a 4 Speed Auto if so the Driveline is the right length for a TKO 600 Trans. I have to install the Clutch Pedal assembly in my 80 and it is no fun be glad you have one.
