could anyone tell me if there is a certain way to shim my new a-arms thanks pete

Shim them the best you can to get the camber straight up. The tire should be perpindicualer to the road. Then take it to an alignment shop and have them set the Castor, Camber and Toe for the front end. Best to do a 4 wheel alignment.
