I found anti freeze under the car yesterday and couldn't isolate the leak. It could be the bottom hose or the radiator. Thought I would let it idle to warm up while keeping an eye on the temp to see if I could find the leak under pressure. Every thing was fine but I couldn't see a leak and then the car shut off like someone shut it off and it would not start. Checked and could not see spark so I changed the coil. That gave me spark. Open the throttle and could see fuel going in. Now the car will start but stalls right away.
Have you looked at your spark plugs. They may have fouled when they were not firing right, plus reading the color of the spark plugs may give you an indication of some type of internal anti-freeze leak.
This is a possibility, but I hope this did not occur. When I was in highschool I had a 71 nova. I had just put on headers and glasspacks earlier in the week. I was having problems with some loose bolts giving me some exhaust leaks. So I started the car and left it idle while I was under it listening for the leaks. I had it idling a couple of minutes when it just shut off. I crawled out from under it and tried to start it again, it would not. After many failed attempts to find the problem. My girlfriends father came over. It turned out the timing chain jumped a couple of teeth. When this occured it set it off timing. The valves were out of sequence and when the pistons came up they smashed into them. In turn it wiped out a couple of lobes on the cam and bent all the push rods. I ended up junking the engine. Now I am not saying this is what happened to you, but when I read it it reminded me of what happened to my nova.
