Probably the turn signal switch in the steering column.

You haven't stated the year but generally the hazard (four-way) lights and directional (turn signal) lamps use separate flasher units. For $5.00 I would replace the directional flasher as a first step.

Does the turn signal switch feel odd when you operate it? Floppy, not clicking to cancel, etc.? It's very possible that the switch just broke but you might want to troubleshoot further before shelling out the $ for a new switch. Check the long connector coming out of the column to make sure the connections are clean and solid. Unfortunately just about all of the tail light circuitry runs through the directional switch.

The switch on my column doesn't work either so I'll be dismantling the column soon to make repairs. Mine has obvious problems though - looseness in the lever and no cancelling.

Just to be sure pull the hazard flasher out put it the signal flasher slot.

Also you never said what you mean by "not working".Are the signal bulbs not lighting or not flashing?

The turn signals and hazards are on 2 separate circuits and separate fuses. The taillight fuse and the stop and hazard fuse do not supply power to the turn signals. The turn signals get their power from the "DIR SIG BK UP" fuse.

do you have 12 volts to the turn signal flasher when you turn the turn signal left or tight-test it with test light. You should also be able to test for 12 volts under you clolumn were you switch runs out turn lever right or left and check for 12 volts their-let us no

On my 68 the turn signals use a separate flasher for the turn signals and do not share the 4 way flasher.

On the 1974 the turn signal flasher is behind the ball vent on the passenger side. The one on the fusebox is for the four-ways.

Here it is hanging down during my heater core project.

I have a 77 with tilt wheels also. I would recheck every wire again before tackling the switch replacement. I would check to see if any of the rear taillight wires aren't shorting out against anything hot like the exhaust pipe. (I had that happen). I also replaced that switch you posted due to the lever breaking off from the inside. PIA to replace as you need to get down deep enough into the column for its removal. The hardest part is putting the spring back in place & lining up the headlight brights connector. Be careful not to dislodge the bearing rings on the steering shaft. I had to get a new one as mine came apart. Check the wire harness for the turn signals that threads through the column, it may be loose. Check its connection down near the brake pedal area. Its the white thin flat connector which has about 9 or 12 wires running into & out of it. I think its the flasher though. Get another one and see if it works first. Maybe the replacement was bad??
