Default Head bolt sealant ?

So my short block got here finally yesterday . I am about ready to bolt the heads on. I got a new set of ARP head bolts. However after reading the pack of bolt lubricant included with them, they recommend also using ARP "PTFE based thread sealant".

1. Do I use the assembly lube in addition to a thread sealant? How do I keep them from mixing/interfering with each other?

2. Should I wait until I can get this special ARP sealant, or can I just use something like permatex blue or black and be just as good?

Use Permatex 2 on the threads and use ARP assembly lube under the heads of the bolts where it makes contact with the washers

Always ask when you are not sure

Others might use other thread sealant. Permatex 2 is a popular one to use because it seals real good, this is one area you do not want a leak

Home Depot or a local plumbing store is your friend. There is nothing magical about teflon paste.

Trick Flow recommended Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket sealent liquid #80019 for their aluminum heads. I used it and liked it alot. Its great for just about any oil/antifreeze sealing applicaition.

I've used it on every motor I've built, more than 5, less than 50,000
