Default Heater Core

My heater core was never connected to the hoses when I got the car. It's time mechanically to address this problem. Due to the fact that it was disconnected I'm assuming the worst. Is there a way to test the core before I start taking the car apart. Is there some kind of pressure test I can perform to determine if the core has a leak. Thanks

Sure you can pressure test or vacuum test. Hard to get the core to operating temp to simulate normal operation. Personally I would remove it and have it re-cored at a rad shop; and then you know you can expect some longevity/reliability.

If it were me, I'd probably just change it out.

However, if I testing it was my goal, I'd probably test it with water and a bit of pressure.

But the search feature has had a few problems recently... And people who are new to certain aspects of this hobby have to start somewhere.
