Rear End Change
I have your basic Automatic 3.08 ratio in the rear--anyone that changed to 3.55--does it really make that much of a difference? How much did it effect the mileage (as if I really care)--how bout crusing at highway speeds? I recall someone doing it but braindead at the moment. 69er was that you? Any thoughts greatly appreciated--I just can't stand to leave it alone--am really bored till Spring--need a Corvette Fix.

Went from 3.00's to 3.55's in my Mustang. The RPM's didn't change drastically but I did notice some difference. Mileage was the same way. It was worth it though because the 3.55's brought that Mustang to life and I'm planning on putting 3.55's in the Vette.

I had 3.55 in my 79 with th350 auto. Reved abot 2800 or so on the highway. Then I switched to a 700-R4 and it reved 2100. Soon after, I got my 74 and transfred all the 79 drivetrain to it, all but the differential because the 74 had a newly rebuilt 3.08 diff. From a performance perspective I didn't really notice a performance difference from going from 3.55 to 3.08. The 74 is a little lighter I guess. So on the flipe side of things, had I had 3.08's and went to 3.55's I wouldn't have been impressed. I wasn't impressed till I got 4.11's
