Default Distributor Question

My distributor makes a popping/ticking noise. I just replaced my plugs and wires, but it still makes the popping/ticking sound. If anyone has any input, I would appreciate it.

Thank you
Doug

Is your car running smooth???

If not, try changing the cap and rotor.

The spark may be arcing internaly.

snapping noise ?? if so you have iginiton arcing somewhere,
most likely the plug wires, run the motor at night with lights off,
and look and listen for the arcing, just put your finger near the source of the noise !
(Don't do the finger thing) and watch yourself, when inspecting in the dark.
Beware of the fan and belts.

New wires could be bad, or cross firing if you have them too close.

The '79 or the '68? Does the '68 have the tach drive? If so, there might be a problem with that.
