What type of trans came with a 73 4spd, a m21 or a m22? How can I tell?

looks like it should be a m-21 heres a link to a lot of info

from what I have learned here you have to have the trans out to confirm what it is for sure. search the old post and you will find a lot of info on the numbers that are on the trans parts that will help

There is a letter code stamped into the case that will tell you which transmission you have. A=M20, B=M21, C=M22

No M22 transmissions after model year 1972.
