Continuing in my lesson of taking better photos when I take things apart, please help. Below is a picture of the small harness for the AC compressor. Please correct me if I am wrong.
By the way (probably get in trouble for mentioning this in the wrong forum, but) it should be obvious to everyone by now that I need a `76 AIM. I have a almost virgin version for an `80 that does me only a limited amount of good here, if a trade works for anyone.
I got my 76 w/o ac hooked up. But, according to the wiring diag. I have. The 2 dk grn wires, 1 goes to pres. switch, the other to the idle stop solenoid. bl to ground.
Hope this helps, I'll look at my man later.
Yea I forgot you had the same year. I should have just PMed you.
Idle stop solenoid? WTF is that? In any event I am sure it was removed long ago with everything else under the hood. Be nice to know for knowings sake though.
I'll post pictures of my project later, right now, I have to quit procrastinating and do my calculus homework.
Are #2 and #3 in your picture coming from the same terminal in the plug? Sure sign of an idle solenoid- The A/C compressor adds a little load, makes the ilde speed too low, so GM added the solenoid to kick the idle back up. If you set the idle at teh crab;s curb idle screw with the compressor on, it'll be too fast to shut off and will make the car jump when you shift into drive.
Thank you for the help. There is so little left original under my hood, I just clipped it off. I am sure that I dont have any idle selenoid thingie. The AC never worked before now, so well just see what happens. I wont use it much anyways, I almost always have the tops out. I only fixed it because I actually COULD actually replace the VIR while standing in the engine compartment while the engine was out.
Proabably would have been smarter to just take the compressor off and toss it....
