Does anyone know of a website that has Rochester Quadrajet specifications listed as far as cfm, etc? I have a 72 with the 200 hp base engine and auto trans. It looks like the original carburetor was a 7042202 but the one on it now is a 7040208 from a 1970 GM truck. I wonder if performance wise, I should look for the original carb or am I doing better with the one from a truck? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Steve

If you do a search on Rochester carburetors you will find lots of web sites with information about the various versions.
Just guessing but a truck carburetor would have been engineered for a completely different type of usage than a Corvette so I would think you'd be better off with the original carburetor or at least one from a car with a similar engine like Camaro or Chevelle.
By the same token, you can take the one you have and have it built to the original specifications, i.e. same jets, needle and seat etc.

All Quadrajets are 750 or 800 cfm, plenty for your car. Don't go find the original rod/ jet combo for your car and put them in the truck carb, it does not work that way. The carb you have now is probably fine as is, but if you want to fine tune it to your engine, e-mail Lars at v8fastcars@msn.com and ask for his Quadrajet tuning paper.
