Default Stall Converter Question

Now that I've clearly got more ponies (oh yeah - you should experience my poopie into second!), I am next wanting a stall converter of x,xxx rpm. Question, if you have say a 2200rpm stall converter, just what happens

a) when you take off from a light mildly
b) when you stomp on it

Is it a moderate engagement at a mild take-off or is it always a very pronounced 'hit'? I've never been in a car with one.... I'm going to a shop tomorrow that may have a car there with one....

Jim.

The biggest thing you'll notice is the tendency for the converter to slip at city speeds. Mine always wants to pull and it can get annoying when in heavy traffic. Not to mention the heat that you can create from doing that which will shorten the life of the tranny. This is with a 10" 3000 stall and 4.11 gears.

Hmmmm....My car is very "engaged" at idle sitting at a stop light. Getting any relief from this would be a good thing, even a 1500rpm converter would be an improvement. More to investigate....
