I might add that por15 is GREAT stuff. I just got done coating my wife's new hitch reciever. The paint was chipping on it and I figured this was a good way to avoid rust.

Some advice. GET SOME LATEX GLOVES BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCH THIS STUFF. It WILL NOT come off of your hands if it dries even slightly. I'm so not kidding about this. I got some on my hands a couple of years ago and it took about 3-4 weeks for it to finally disappear.

I second that...just finished coating several parts in my rear end rebuild -
>Differentail crossmember
>Strut rod bracket
>Differential Pinion bracket
>Differential
>HD rear diff cover

The results were awesome.

The latex glove is a good tip - only time will remove the stains this will put on you. Another good tip is - this stuff goes a really long way. For all of those parts above a few of which are rather hefty - I used maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the pint can I bought.

I bought the can at a swap meet from a POR-15 dealer and he said you can put this stuff on really thin - it covers terrificly. I brushed it on and the finish smooths out nicely as well.

Thanks for the tip Steve. My lady would not appreciate stained hands all over her :jester I'm just sorry I didn't get this stuff when I painted my rear shock mounts and stabilizer assembly. Do ya think I can slap a coat of por over the existing paint job I've done without stripping it all down again?

You can get away with that . I've done it without any problems. I bet besides forklift seatbelts I'm also the only one on the Forum with a POR15 Chevy Orange aluminum Performer intake.
Just make sure the parts are clean.........the paint will stick.

I plan on using the por15 engine paint on my next engine.
