Here is a question for the vette people. I have a 73 - 454" and am exploring the possibility of swapping out the 454 to say a 383 like an LS series. Newer technology, weight savings, mileage, and drivability. Then the origional 454 can be rebuilt and stored.
What do I need to change to do this swap and what are the pitfalls of this idea. Many thanks.
Money is the big pitfall. Seems the people that all go through with an LS swap get good deals on the drive train and still spend at least $10K on the overall swap.
There is a very good and very long sticky on the subject at the top of the Tech section. Give it a good read and see what you think.
My take is that it needs to be exactly what you want, or you'll spend a lot of money on something that will move your car the same way the old engine did.
