Default Stahl headers

Anybody have the stahl headers that run under the car? I have the side exhaust on my 67. Looking for installed pictures.

Not too many have Stahl undercar headers around here, I hear their customer service is not up to par, that is what has prevented me from ever contacting them

Back when I had money, I called them an left a couple of messages indicating I was interested in having a set of their sidepipes made. They were priced right around $1k. Never heard a peep from them...

I ended up going with Sandersons and local custom pipes.

I know Jere is semi retired. Judy his wife is the person I email with questions. She forwards them to Jere. They have always responded to my emails. If you see an old set of headers you can email them the number on them and they will let you know who bought them and when. I just emailed for info on their chassis exit headers. I'll see how long it take to respond. They are great headers though!!

Stahl chassis headers are LOW! if your Vette is lowered, they will impact speed bumps, they hang lower than a oil pan (just like Hookers and everyone elses chassis headers.)

Here is Judys' responce from the email I sent her yesterday. Very prompt I might add.

Shop foreman is not here today but I am pretty sure that it will work. I have no notes to indicate that it will not. I am attaching a picture that shows from underneath.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't you couldn't get a response or order a set of headers, it was when you had a problem after the sale, you were on your own, as in this Jere guy was very difficult to deal with. Like I said not too many, if any at all have them.

I for one would love a set in 1 7/8" primaries but over the 10 years I have been on this forum I can't even remember more than one or two guys getting them.

If customer service was top notch as their headers are they would have sold hundreds of sets here. The power of the internet is in action here, I hope you have good success with them :

Thanks, I dont know if I'll get them. They aint cheap!! I paid about 1500 for my side exit headers with the pipes down the side of the car. I might use them on my 80 and put the heddmen headers back on my 67. It will all depend on how much the rear end will cost.

Default 2" stahl

I have 2” on my SB car and they did not hit the ground when the trans pan was destroyed and the oil pan was crushed.

And just how deep is the pan on your Drag Vette, I will BET it is 8" or more, the stock pan is 7" deep and I know road race Vette with chassis exit Stahls that scrape the ground. Looks to me like you oil pan would take the brunt of a contact as it seems lower than the headers. Let's see a side view of some Stahl chassis exit headers the we will talk. Every EFFING chassis header I have ever run on a Vette is too low for my tastes, no matter who made it.

My Super Comps don't hang below the oil pan either on my old motor or my new 427ci . I have never scraped them

2000-A4 what's the scoop on the 2 inch headers, did you have to take the car in to them, do they have a jig to work with to make another set, what was the price and anything else involved in installing these bigger headers, I would love to get a set

Nice Exhaust system. If you are running 1-7/8" I'm not sure I would change them.

I purchased them used, although I believe they are around $1,000. You will need to get exhaust port plates so that the header will bolt up, has Stahl pattern. I suggest you get the ½” aluminum plates. Also, mine has a 4” collector, and I’m sure a 3” to 3-1/2” would work just fine and also give you a little more clearance.

I also have a set of 1-7/8” hooker that had no clearance problems.

No mine are 1 3/4 and my new 427ci is in the mid 600HP range with 7500 RPM redline. Which headers do you have that are 1 7/8", besides sidepipe headers I have never seen anything bigger than 1 3/4" for C3's off the shelf
