Just bought a set of used vortec heads and intake manifold. When changing heads do I have to change the head/exhaust gaskets or can I reuse the old ones? Can I reuse the stock exhaust, intake and head bolts or will they be different for the vortec heads?
Thanks,
Scott

agree use new head gaskets. if they are aluminium i would only use felpro. manifold gaskets are cheap so i would replace them while i was at it too. your exhaust will slightly raise so as long as you dont have a very tight clearance issue on a starter etc etc you will be fine. may want to match your new port shape if possible with the heads/exhaust. the new vortec manifold has an 8 bolt patter instead of the standard 12bolt pattern. depends on condition of your head bolts if you want to re-use them.
I recommend the Fel-Pro 1255 intake manifold gaskets and a bead of high temp silicon for the front and rear seals.
Considering the low cost, get some ARP 12 pt head bolts off of Ebay for $35 or so, and get a new set of stainless exhaust bolt. I like Allen head bolts and lock washers for a tight fit on the exhaust.
