Default T10 markings what do they mean?

I was looking at my 4sp and I saw "WC1 62" right under it I saw "166425229 the 5229 being the last four digits of my vin. I think this is the standard "wide ratio??" transmission. ??

Thanks

Howard

by the way, it's on a 1976 coupe.

Thanks Karol.

WC1 62 . W= Borg-Warner C = March 1 = the first day, 6 = 1976. for a wide-ratio unit there would be a 1 so since yours is a two is must be a close-ratio.

Default same question for my 76 4 sp

I just went down these bunny trails and one source, I think Prince, said what you described regarding close ratio and wide ratio. Another source says this is the production shift that made the 4sp and not close or wide ratio. See links below

http://fiedlerh.home.att.net/BW.htm

http://www.dandltransmission.com/borgratio.html

I finally came to the conclusion that the only way to tell was to pull the 4sp and check the grooves on the input shaft. Or if I could read my build sheet that would also be a way.

If someone has more info, I would like to hear it too.

Thanks.

Ah, I got my info from my Richard Prince Corvette 1968 to 1982 Restoration guide but your info on the number two stating the second shift makes more sense.

Thanks,
Danny

Sorry Howard, That is why this site is so great!

A member also sent me a few more clues. I think I have the wide ratio. If I read the info correctly it only came with the 3:36 differential, which is what I have. The input shaft has 3 grooves also. If that helps any one...

Thanks
