Default New motor

Somewhere down the line, I'm going to replace the tired L48 motor in my '77. I've been researching the GM crate engines, 290-355 etc. I also talked to the local NAPA guy, and he said they carry a remanufactured engine by Marshall, out of Nebraska. Had all different horsepower to choose from. Has anyone on here installed one of these Marshall engines, and if so, what kind of luck have you had?

Sorry I can's help with Marshall, but keep in mind if something goes wrong, a GM crate will be repaired and any GM dealership under warranty. Just something to consider.

Do a search on Blueprint Engines. Here's their link:

Thanks for the replies. Anyone know how much horsepower I can safely hook up to my stock tranny and rear end without tearing things up? I won't be drag racing the car, but I'm sure I'll romp down on it every now and then.

I think there was a guy here that had problems with Marshall. Do a search!

I'm pushing over 400hp with pretty much a stock drivetrain. Tranny, (shift kit, stall) rearend, trailing arms & driveshafts we all redone while I had the car apart, never broke anything yet.

But if you have any weak drivetrain parts now, something may break but even new it can happen.
