OK I have a stripped fuel inlet on my q-jet. It was stripped a while back, and I put in one of the oversized fittings - I knew that was a temp solution, and now my time has run out.
I need to get the heli-coil insert, but I can't figure out how. I have a heli-coil kit, but nothing near the size needed.
Doea anyone know where I can buy the correct size kit, or where can I take it to have a heli-coil inserted?

You might be beyond help as you may not have enough metal to cut the threads for the inserst.
Oh, it is not cost effective to buy the drill and tap and inserts to do this job...about 150.00 or more for the kit. Look in the yellow pages for a carb shop or if you can't find one, I will give you a phone number to call in Cleveland, if you run out of options. But I really think this is a moot point as you used an oversized fitting and once that is done, your carb is done.....
Take it to your local airport. A good aircraft mechanic can take care of this pretty quick. he probably has a vette too and will not mind helping out. Hugh
Any good carb shop should be able to install a heli-coil. You can check with Lars or we also can do the job (we are in Northern California). You can send just the bowl or if the carb is assembled it would be done as part of a overhaul. Henry @ olescarb
don't hold your hopes up too high. Once you use an oversize fitting, the carb becomes unrepairable as there is not enough metal left to cut threads for the thread inserts...
Before you waste your money to ship the carb for repairs, be sure to tell the guy you installed the oversize fitting...
Try a local auto parts store that handles Dorman products. They have a special fitting with a 'O' ring that will solve the problem specifically made to fit the damaged inlet.
PS, they are available in both 5/16 and 3/8
