Default Edelbrock Fuel Injection Kit

Are there any forum members using the Edelbrock fuel injection kit. If so were there any problems installing the ecm, sensors, and other components?

I have the Edelbrock Performer RPM EFI in one of my cars (not a Vette). It works great! It has since been superseded by a new version so my comments may or may not be applicable to the new model.

In a car not designed for EFI you will likely have several issues to deal with..none major but have to be dealt with. One is under a low hood like a Vette, you'll probably have air cleaner clearance issues. There are lots of ways to deal with it...you'll have to see what works best for you and gives you the look you want.

The other issue is where to place the ECU. It needs to be kept away from engine heat, so you have to come up with an accessible spot under or behind the dash most likely.

Everything else is workable without too much extra effort. If you do install one, you'll love it...instant start, plenty of smooth power. An excellent system.

With the Corvette the problem is there is just very little room for all the wiring ECU and components. I am installing an aftermarket fuel injection system right now. Not an Edelbrock unit though. It came with a wiring harness that is fairly generic for most Chevy cars. I have painstakingly rewired the harness to make it fit right. The sensors are no problem as is the install of most of the hardware. I have spent probably 50 hours routing and rerouting the wiring harness and the fuel lines. I wanted to do it right and make them all fit and look like it was made for the car. I could have done it in less time but I would not have been satisfied. I put my ECU under the passenger seat. I am battling the air cleaner right now. Even with the LT1/BB hood the clearance is not there.

Interesting. What bought this question on is I saw a 71 corvette with an edel fuel injection system at a car show a few years ago. The owners used an 2" air cleaner. The vehicle also had a BB hood.

That may be the answer for me. The 3 inch element I have now hits the hood.
