Anybody ever rebuild their own PB booster? I'm wondering if it's something I can do instead of paying somebody a hundred bucks. I just have a vacuum leak.
If you know of any online papers on it, I'd appreciate it.
Wendell Up here in Canada I had my parts house try and order me rubber seal {comon problem with boosters} they would sell me a booster but not the parts to rebuild them. But its worth a try they are quite basic inside just mark things well as you take it apart.
I maybe all wet, but I seem to remember that you need a special spring compress before you start taking that apart. Dont know where you are in that process, but I thought I would tell you that!
These boosters are so hard to get in & out of your car, maybe it's wise to have it rebuilt & tested by someone who knows what they are doing. At least you have some recource if things go wrong.Theres a hell of a lot of parts in these things.
How are things going?
Haven´t heard from you for a long time.....
Brake booster isn´t as complicated as it looks.
As the other guys say: the spring won´t blow the booster out of the vise, but you need quite a bit of force!
I bend the latches on my booster carefully and barely turned the halves, always aware of the expected big pop of the parts (didn´t happen then)
You will find a diaphargm inside which might be worn - check it.
Probably you can repair it with a bike tire emergency kit.
Assembly is a bigger prob than dismantling.....you know, the spring!
You need to press AND turn - get a fellow to help you!
Re-bend the latches and everything should be OK
What about your nice orange car? Finished?????
I plan to take the body off this weekend!
